Letter From The Chair
It is with great honor that I have the opportunity to serve as the Chair of the Steering Committee for one of the most renowned Homecomings within the collegiate realm. Howard University Homecoming has been held as the most highly anticipated event of the year amongst students, alumni, faculty, staff and the community from experiencing Yardfest, to witnessing the parade, to cheering on the football team and every event in between. But what makes Howard Homecoming truly unique are the relationships made, connections re-established and the communal efforts to continue to lay the foundation for future Bison.
Our theme for this year, GLORY, in it's infancy, meant taking the time to glorify our illustrious university. As time progressed, GLORY transformed into much more. GLORY has evolved into a platform that we are also using to celebrate and highlight positive Black culture and existence. Our events this year incorporate the history of our rich heritage, acknowledge current Black movements and serve our surrounding community. This year, we are looking not only to entertain but to expound upon the Howard Homecoming experience as a whole. Behind the thunderous steps on the floorboards, flashing lights across the stage, roaring cheers on the field, and bold strides down the runway, there is that GLORY we want to capture and display as a reminder of why now and forever, "O Howard, we'll sing of thee."
As you experience the 91st Homecoming of Howard University, I hope that you take the opportunity to use GLORY to reminisce on why you hold Howard near and dear to your own heart.
