Line Up for participants begins at 8:00 a.m. in front of the Mordecai Wyatt Administration Building – Building One
The Parade boasts attendance in excess of 30,000 along the 1 ½ mile Parade Route through both the historic LeDroit Park and Bloomingdale communities. There will be in excess of 20 marching bands (both middle, junior and senior high school) students from across the country that will compete for cash prizes in the 12th Annual – “Showcase of Bands”. Howard University’s Homecoming Parade has become one of the largest Parades on the East Coast. The Homecoming Parade began in 1924 and was a yearly event until 1990. It is a community based event that was reestablished by the University in 1995. The Parade has had some of the most iconic figures in both music and film to participate including: LL Cool J, Ice Cube, Chaka Khan, Terrence Howard, Bow Wow, Taraji P. Henson and Ludacris just to name a few.
